What We Believe

God
We believe that there is only one true, living, sovereign, holy, and eternally existent God. He exists in three co-equal persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each being a distinct person and with a distinct function, but all of one essence and all possessing the same nature, perfection, and attributes. The triune God is the creator and sustainer of all things, the source of all truth, and is worthy of worship, confidence, and obedience.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, shed His blood on the cross as a vicarious substitute, was buried, bodily resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return literally, visibly, and personally in glory and power.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, co-equal and co-existent with the Father and the Son. He is the chief convictor of sin, the chief agent of regeneration and sanctification. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and empowers every believer to live a godly life.
Salvation
We believe the salvation of lost and sinful mankind is a free gift of God’s grace apart from human works, based solely upon Christ’s vicarious and atoning death, effected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and received only through faith in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The Bible
We believe the entire Bible, all 66 books of the combined Old and New Testaments, is verbally inspired by God and is inerrant in the original writings. Through the providence of God, the Word of God has been protected and preserved, and is the only infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ and the family of God. It is made up of saved and baptized believers, who regularly join together for worship and fellowship and are organized to pursue God’s work in the world.

Scott Lake Kids
Sunday Mornings

 9:15 Children’s Church K-5
Children’s Church is after the worship time in the church service, allowing our children the opportunity to worship with the congregation, then head to the children's room to have Bible study. Children’s Church is located upstairs in the Life Center in the Children’s department.

10:30 Sunday School K-5
We have three classes to meet your child’s needs. K-2, 3-4, and 5-6 grades. Each class is perfectly designed to meet your child’s needs.

Sunday Evenings
5:00 pm TeamKID K-5
TeamKID is designed for Kids in Discipleship. Here, kids learn about application of Bible truths, engaging missions videos and activities, and fun activity-based learning, all while helping your kids grow to be more like Jesus

Wednesdays - 6:30 – 7:45 – GROW (K-5).

GROW is a weekly program that engages children in Bible study, Bible activities, and competitive recreation games. GROW is truly the highlight of many of our kids' weeks. This fast-paced program is something everyone enjoys.
Youth
Sunday Mornings
LifeGroups - 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The goal of LifeGroup is to help youth develop a faith that lasts. Having fun at youth group, hearing messages, and going on trips are all great, but to last, a student must learn to OWN THEIR FAITH. In LifeGroups, students develop the spiritual discipline of spending time with God and studying their Bible every day. Each Sunday, they are given a devotional to work through that week and bring back next Sunday. In LifeGroup, they discuss what they are learning and hold each other accountable.

There are LifeGroups for: 7-8th boys, 7-8th girls, 9-12th boys, 9-12th girls.
(6th grade is part of our Pre-Teen class during LifeGroups)

Wednesdays
MERGE  6:30-7:45 PM

MERGE is our weekly youth big group meeting for 6-12th grades. This is our first step program for youth to make friends and hear about God. MERGE is all about taking a step towards God and bringing a friend with you. Each week we focus on 3 key elements in our service: building community, having fun together, and a message relevant to the life of teens.

Gym opens at 6:00pm for open play.
Women's Ministry
We love to create opportunities for the women of our church to connect in life-giving and authentic friendships. Throughout the year ladies Bible studies, events and trips are planned to enable this goal.
Worship Ministry
Our mission is to allow followers of Christ the opportunity to use their God-given creative gifts to honor and praise our Creator! Here are a few of the many opportunities found within our worship ministry:

Worship Choir
Rehearsal Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:30 in the Choir room in the Life Center

Worship Band
Musicians play/sing every Sunday morning at our 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. services.  For more information on current openings or ministry opportunities, please contact Russ Rowland at Rrowland@scottlake.org.
Missions
For several years, Scott Lake Baptist Church has been conducting mission and church planting efforts in Colombia, South America. To date, there are 7 established congregations with an additional 3 in development.  We “praise God from whom all blessings flow” for His provision and care as we continue the work of sharing the Gospel throughout areas of Colombia.
Senior Adults
The Seniors Ministry encompasses those in the general age range of 60 and up.  Our belief is that the senior years are not a time for people to simply retire to the rocking chair, but a time to catch a second wind and make a real difference in life using the wisdom and resources that God has afforded them. Our goal is to encourage seniors to continue to grow and to continue to serve while providing opportunities for meaningful relationships.

Senior Adult Ministry Opportunities
Senior Adult Luncheon ($6), First Thursday of the month from September to May at noon.

Day Trips: see events calendar for more info
College and Career
Many college-age people believe the most important part of these years is to get a degree.  The truth is that God has established these years as a unique moment in your life.  They not only stand on the verge of some of the biggest decisions in life, but they are also establishing the character and faith that will shape their future.  Through our College and Career Ministry, we want to create an environment where they are engaged in Bible studies that both equip them and develop a personal love for scripture, opportunities to serve through their God-given abilities, and a supportive and encouraging community facing the same challenges in life.

Bible Study - 10:30 am
Life Center, Rm 202

Pre-Teen
Welcome to Route 56 Pre-Teen Ministry. 5th and 6th graders are in a unique time in life.  They are neither children or youth.  At this time in life, it is easy for them to grow tired of the Children's Ministry, and our goal is to create a space where they can grow spiritually in a space tailored for them.
